Our Activities
At Storytime Nursery we promote learning and creative play and encourage the children in every way.
- We believe in choice and we want our children to grow at their own pace. So we tailor activities to the children’s age and stage of development which gives opportunity for our children to flourish in their own way.
- All our children learn through play based activities, benefiting from the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS) that we follow to support the children’s learning in preparation for school.
- We aim to strike a balance between providing a calm relaxed, caring environment whilst providing activities that are both exciting and stimulating.
All children are encouraged to do many different regular activities including baking, singing and crafts.
We have play areas with toys and books for quiet time, too.
We have fun during creative play. Painting, sticking and colouring are all firm favourites with the children, as you see from our exciting, vibrant wall displays.
Children love to use all their senses to discover new things. Our sensory table is very popular; the children can plunge their arms in water, leaves, foam, mud, bubbles, marbles and have fun with imaginary play.
Stories are a wonderful way to introduce new ideas, learn new words, learn rhymes and actions. We are located right next to the Library and make use of this fantastic facility.
We have the Onchan Recreation Gounds (the Rec) right on our doorstep and use this resource in our daily planning.
We also have our own garden and yard for outdoor play.
So no matter what the weather, we're out and about!
As part of our Spring topic we enjoyed exploring soil with garden tools and insects, we made lots of mess (which we love!).

We had a fab time trying out our new Mud Kitchen!! The children loved it :) , its great and really really messy, Just what we love at Storytime.
We love baking and cooking at Storytime. A good time to find out new things, get messy and it's tasty, too!
The girls wanted wands to play while dressing up as princesses but we didn't have any so we made our own wands using leaves and twigs that we collected at the park. We played with them all afternoon!
Who needs paint brushes...it's much more fun using our hands! Sometimes it's the simplest of things that make us the happiest!
We love being outdoors exploring and playing in the sunshine.
We love the children playing games that they have organised themselves. Independent play and learning at its best.
We enjoyed beans on toast for snack. We are learning to use a knife and fork and have a go at cutting up our food ready for school.
